(Don't use this space above the photo to include a subheadline.)

Headlines and Photos:

-We are using Chicago Style Headlines, so capitalize all words in them, except for prepositions and articles, including but not limited to "a, an, and, as, of, to, the." If one of those words is the first in your headline, then yes, capitalize it!

- Quotations in Headlines use 'single quotation marks' (Thanks for looking this Up, Ket!)

-If your headline consists of two separate clauses, you consider separating them with a semicolon rather than a comma.

-Some of y'all's headlines aren't fully displaying when on the webpages, so keep condensing until they fully display on the site.

-For your story's photo: We agreed that we would place them directly under the headline.

-Captions are optional, photo credits are not. Your photo credit should name the organization or outlet you have pulled the photo from. So, "Elon University," "ENN," or "Elon University Twitter", not "Google Images."

-For the example above, I have included a caption and a photo credit in parentheses. If you don't include a caption, you don't need parentheses.

-To place your photo credit: Click on the photo in the post editor, click the settings gear, and there is a text box labeled "caption" to include your photo credit.

General Formatting:

-After talking it over, it makes sense that we will begin each story with a location in ALL CAPS– followed by an em dash (PC: alt + dash key or MAC: option + dash key). For Example:

ELON, NC–

BURLINGTON, NC–

CENTRAL CITY, BOBONIA–

-Make sure your paragraphs are single spaced. We are not indenting the first lines of paragraphs.

-Use line breaks to separate paragraphs, building a bit more of a blocky, newsy look.

-In general, we aren't using bold for any text (the headings here being an exception); you may use italics to emphasize words if you so choose.

Copyediting:

-Broadly speaking, we are using Chicago Style.

Spelling:

-Visually, we will use "A.S.S." But verbally, I think we should go initialism (i.e., "Ay ess ess) instead of acronym (i.e., "ass").

-When referring to our frat and sorority, I don't think we need to have "Sigma Mu Delta (SMD)" and "Sigma Theta Delta (STD)" every time we mention them. Spell it out with parentheses the first time, then use "STD" and "SMD" throughout the rest of the story. Should we come up with nicknames for them? Like "SigMu?"

Metadata:

-Make sure you've chosen your related stories. To do so, Go to the post editor, go to the "settings" menu , and the "advanced" tab; there is a menu for related stories on that tab.

-Make sure you've given the story at least one tag that no one else has used for placement on various webpages.
